Even more disturbing than Hunter Strickland’s lack of self-control might be the fact that he’s an avid hunter.
I mean, imagine saying the wrong thing to this guy when he’s holding a gun.
According to Bleacher Report, Giants pitcher Hunter Strickland, whose main claim to fame is being so butthurt by Bryce Harper hitting two home runs off of him in the 2014 NLDS that he waited three years to drill him with a 98-MPH fastball, sparking a massive brawl that not only did the trick in proving that he’s mentally incompetent for life but also ended Mike Morse’s career, once again showed us why he’s a perennial favorite for baseball’s “Shitdick of the Year” award Monday night.
After blowing a 4-2 lead against the collection of minor leaguers known as the Miami Marlins, Strickland proceeded to punch a door in the Giants clubhouse. The end result? You guessed it – he’s now out at least six to eight weeks with a broken hand that will require surgery to fix.
Upon hearing the news, Giants manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that he was “thoroughly disappointed” by Strickland’s actions, adding that he has grown as both a person and a pitcher.
We beg to differ.
While his 2.84 ERA and 1.23 WHIP along with 29 strikeouts though almost 32 innings of work mean that he may have grown as a pitcher, it’s beyond obvious that he has a ways to go before he can be classified as a “person who has grown.” Strickland’s lack of self-control and continued lack of metal stability luckily only hurt him this time around, but if this dude can’t get his shit together in a hurry, it’s only a matter of time before he seriously injures another player, perhaps once again, one that is wearing the same uniform as him…
